Executive Assistant to the President Classification: Presidential Aide (Exempt) Time base: Full Time Recruitment open until filled ABOUT CALIFORNIA STATE UNIVERSITY MARITIME ACADEMY:
The Executive Assistant (EA) to the President provides executive-level administrative support to the campus President in a highly sensitive and confidential work environment. The EA understands the competing priorities of the President at all times, and collaboratively ensures the effective and efficient operations of the Office of the President and its relationship with the campus, as well as the CSU system administration's offices in Long Beach, CA.
Reporting to the Chief of Staff, but working in close consultation with the campus President, the EA operates with a high degree of autonomy and good judgment in the following key areas:
Time ManagementWorkflow ManagementInformation ManagementRelationship ManagementSPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: A background check (including a criminal records check) must be satisfactorily completed before any candidate can be offered a position with the CSU. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the application status of applicants or continued employment of current CSU employees who apply for the position. Must be able to maintain flexibility in work hours to accommodate long workdays and/or special events i.e.: evenings and weekends
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education and Experience: Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Demonstrated ability to exercise confidentiality, good judgment, intuition, discretion, and political acumen when managing the time, work, priorities, and relationships of the President. Ability to remain composed, self-assured, and professional during periods of stress and ambiguity. Possess excellent oral and written communication skills and effectively communicate with diverse constituencies.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Understanding of rules and principles of collective bargaining units, comprehensive campaigns, and shared-governance.
