The NYC Independent Budget Office, a nonpartisan city agency, is seeking an experienced budget and policy analyst for our Housing, Environment, and Infrastructure team. The analyst will cover the economic development, planning, and surface transportation portfolio, which includes policies and programs administered by the Economic Development Corporation and departments of Small Business Services, Transportation, and Planning.
A successful candidate must be self-motivated, able to juggle multiple projects, have advanced quantitative and policy analytic skills, and be able to write clearly about complex policies. Experience with large datasets, SAS (or similar statistical software), and familiarity with economic and fiscal impact analysis preferred. Candidates must be comfortable interacting with public officials and agency staffs as well as civic and advocacy groups. Ability to work independently, take initiative and meet deadlines is critical. Commitment to impartial review and analysis is also essential. Candidates will preferably have knowledge of public finance and the city’s capital and expense budgets.
A Master’s degree in public administration, finance, business, economics, planning or a related field, along with two to five years experience, is preferred; equivalent work experience may substitute. Position may require two year city residency.
Salary range $58,000-$75,000.
