Amec Foster Wheeler’s Dallas team is growing and we have opportunities for Construction Inspectors to perform construction inspections and materials testing for commercial, industrial, education, healthcare and transportation projects. We have opportunities for experienced inspectors with ICC, ACI, PCI, CWI, TxDOT and other certifications. We also have opportunities for motivated individuals without construction inspection or testing experience looking to start a career.
Key Responsibilities •Under immediate supervision, perform field inspections, observations and/or testing of construction activities to ensure compliance with project plans, approved shop/working drawings, project documents and specifications in accordance with established procedures •Read and interpret construction documents including, but not limited to, drawings, specifications, standards, codes and shopping drawings •Prepare and submit accurate, legible, comprehensive and complete inspection reports and/or testing records on a daily basis in accordance with established quality procedures •Perform basic analysis of data to verify accuracy before communication and submittal to the Supervisor •Assist more senior inspectors on projects •Upon additional training, perform field testing and sampling of construction materials and completed work using standard methods established by AASHTO, ASTM, TxDOT or other agency with appropriate, properly calibrated testing equipment •Maintains assigned equipment and related calibration •Follows safety rules and practices and other safety requirements for all projects; Performs pre-task planning prior to executing work; Report any safety issues or concerns to management
Skills / Qualifications Required •High School Diploma or equivalent required •Valid Driver’s License required •Reliability - must be able to arrive at designated project sites prior to scheduled times •Ability to prepare reports and documentation •Strong written and verbal communication skills •Flexibility to work outside normal business hours as required •Must pass drug test, physical, background check and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company's driving (MVR) policy
Preferred, but not Required •Associate degree in civil engineering technology or construction engineering technology •0-2 years Construction inspection and/or testing experience •Basic knowledge of MS Word, Excel and Outlook •Certified in Radiation safety and Nuclear Density Gauge operation •ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician - Grade 1 •NICET Level I or higher certification in Construction Materials Testing (Asphalt, Concrete, Soils) •ICC Residential Building Inspector certification •ICC Commercial Building Inspector certification •ICC Special Inspector certification (Reinforced Concrete, Structural Masonry, Sprayed Fireproofing, Pre-stressed/post-tensioned Concrete) •TxDOT SB102, Level 1A, Level B certification
Physical Demands •Physical examination required to obtain medical clearance to work •Clean driving record and capable of being insured for driving company vehicles •Able to work in variable outside conditions, including extreme heat or cold
