As part of the Analytics Consulting team this position is responsible for working with internal customers to define and prioritize business requirements; partnering with Development, Application, and other Analyst teams to design and implement analytics solutions; and providing an overall excellent customer experience. While all members of the Analytics Consulting team are expected to develop a proficiency across the domains we support, the Analyst will focus heavily on the following:
Caradigm Intelligence Platform (the team and technology supporting the UW Medicine Enterprise Data Warehouse);
Leading and defining improvement through departmental data quality initiatives;
Managing advanced project work related to predictive analytics and statistical methods;
Implementing query libraries, certified data sets, and other artifacts of data governance.
The Analyst will regularly work with end-users, management, and other Analyst groups across UW Medicine to identify business problems and opportunities for process improvement, as well as supporting the overall quality of enterprise data. The Analyst will produce thorough analyses and detailed business and technical requirements documentation as necessary to support solution development. The Analyst will work closely with Programmers, Application Owners, and Data/Solution Architects to ensure that solutions meet customer needs and will strive to support the voice of the customer in all interactions. The Analyst stays connected to the customer throughout the lifecycle of their requests and makes sure all solutions undergo effective quality review and user acceptance testing. The Analyst will also assist in release documentation, user training, and ongoing support as needed.
As a member of the Analytics Consulting team, the Analyst will directly support the triage of incoming customer requests with other team members. The Analyst will work broadly across the Analytics group as a whole to ensure effective work prioritization and that requests are assigned to the best possible resource(s). The Analyst will engage with other team members to drive process improvement both within the Analytics Consulting team and the department as a whole. The Analyst will stay up-to-date on all department solutions and services and frequently demonstrate and educate customers on existing and new tools.
This position requires independent judgement and collaboration with both internal and external partners to proactively manage, analyze, report, and implement the Analytics programs, projects and tasks assigned. This role will work across cross-functional teams. This position will also require the ability to navigate complex levels of the UW Medicine environment in addition to working with Managers and Directors of UW Medicine entities. The incumbent is expected to perform analytical work requiring knowledge of administrative principles and analytical practices. The position will be provided access to restricted or confidential information including: employee and patient information, medical center strategic plans and initiatives, and financial information (or other sensitive materials and information). The Analyst will be required to maintain confidentiality and follow strict compliance and organizational guidelines.
Requirements Gathering, Analysis, and Prioritization (30%)
Work with internal customers to define, analyze, and prioritize business and technical requirements
Develop and run queries on the Caradigm Intelligence Platform to help inform requirements
Create clear and concise documentation tailored to business and technical audiences
Match customer needs with existing solutions or identify opportunities for new development
Analytics Data Quality Improvement (15%)
Independently research data quality problems (and customer feedback) to create actionable and effective recommendations for data quality improvement
Work to identify and implement processes in partnership with multiple teams that result in improved data quality in Analytics solutions and source systems
Partner with developers to support the effective development of data quality solutions
Develop and manage libraries of measures, data definitions, and other standards to support data transparency and sharing
Customer Support (15%)
Partner with business and technical teams to ensure that customer needs are met
Coordinate requests connected to Caradigm Intelligence Platform with the ITS Project Management Office
Evaluate and help resolve data completeness, accuracy and quality issues identified by internal teams and customers
Monitor and effectively respond to relevant requests through the service management platform
This may include periodic on call support outside of regular business hours
Solutions and Analytics Development (15%)
Partner with development, application, and other analyst teams to design and implement analytics solutions
Encourage the adoption of enterprise best-practices for partnered developers
Independently create analyses and visual analytics Process Improvement and Documentation (15%)
Engage with other team members to drive process improvement both within the Analytics Consulting Team and the department as a whole
Ensure that processes and solutions are effectively documented
Contribute relevant customer-facing content to departmental customer portal
Training and User-Engagement (10%)
Assist in release documentation, user training/engagement, and on-going support
What you'll bring to the table: (minimum requirements)
Bachelor's degree in Business or Health Administration, Computer Science, Information Systems, Public Health or related field or equivalent combination of education/experience.
8+ years experience must include the following:
8+ years' experience in a complex matrix organization involving the collection and analysis of business requirements.
5+ years' experience with healthcare data analytics.
5+ years' experience producing detailed data analysis and visualization on large datasets.
Applied practical knowledge of healthcare data and terminology.
Understanding of advanced SQL and ability to write and comprehend SQL queries.
Experience with standard healthcare data and code sets, particularly claims and clinical electronic health record data.
Demonstrated competency in standard administrative office applications: Microsoft Windows platform, Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Excel, Power Point, Word).
Familiarity with mature data governance and data quality practices.
Ideally, you'll also have: (desired skills and experience)
5+ years' experience with any combination of the following products: TIBCO/Spotfire, Tableau, SQL Server Reporting Services, or comparable applications.
5+ years' experience with enterprise-grade business intelligence and reporting tools.
2+ years of direct project management experience.
Experience with the direct support of predictive analytics projects.
Experience developing enterprise data dictionaries, query libraries, and certified data sets.
Experience supporting user engagement activities and groups.

Must learn many organizational structures and cultures and foster collaboration.
Available to work off-hours and weekends as needed.
The majority of work is performed in an office environment during normal business hours.
