DCH Perianesthesia is committed to growing a professional practice environment with major focus on role and relationship competence. The RN provides care consistent with ASPAN standards and evidence based practice. The RN is responsible for participating in the growth of the nursing profession and continuous improvement to achieve best practice in our unit to increase the value of care we provide to our patients and families. We provide fast-paced, family-centered, pediatric perianesthesia care. We care for a variety of pediatric patient populations ranging from neonates to young adults who include ambulatory, inpatient, urgent/emergent surgeries, after hour's sedation and prolonged procedural recoveries. Acuity levels vary from clinic patients to day surgery to critical care pediatric patients. Strong collegial relationships with all interdisciplinary team members, especially our pediatric anesthesiology providers, are fostered.

Current OHSU employees: BSN preferred
Communication skills including fluency in oral and written English
Basic computer skills including the ability to send/receive email, navigate information technology associated with the position, and use Electronic Health Record information and tools
Current unencumbered Oregon RN license.
Current BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or the Military Training Network
Minimum 2 years' current* experience in Pediatric Phase I Recovery, Pediatric Intensive Care, Pediatric ED and/or Pediatric Critical Care Transport (current within 6 months)
PALS certification at time of hire
Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without accommodation
CPAN, CAPA, CCRN, CPN or applicable specialty nursing certification
Fluency in a language other than English, with Spanish most needed
>2 years experience in the specified areas
Experience in unit-leadership assignments (ie., charge RN, educator, preceptor, leading continuous improvement project)
Experience in Shared Governance
Electronic Health Record (EHR) documentation experience
Specialty Experience: 4-6 weeks (Variable)
Experience, but not in specialty area: 6 -8 weeks (Variable)
