The American Medical Association (AMA), the nation’s largest professional association of physicians, has a dynamic opportunity for the right individual. The Senior Research Associate provides support for the AMA’s Council on Ethical and Judicial Affairs in the Council’s role in developing ethics guidance and in its judicial function. You will conduct high-level research and write in-depth analysis, develop and produce research studies, document research, and develop insights for internal and external audiences. You will create presentations and support department projects and will work independently or in cross-functional teams to perform required tasks.
BA/BS required, Masters in Social Science, Health Administration, or Public Health. JD with experience in bioethics law, health care regulation, and health policy or relevant field preferred.
Minimum of four years of social science, healthcare or relevant research experience in academic, government, corporate or non-profit setting.
Exceptional writing and analytical skills. Experience in the following needed: ability to conceptualize and synthesize the literature and offer key insights, data mining, business intelligence and analysis, and organizing and translating data.
Outstanding interpersonal and verbal communication skills with a creative hands-on orientation. Must have proven ability to present clear and cogent arguments.
Demonstrated ability to work well under pressure, including the ability to balance work on multiple short-term projects requiring rapid responses with work on long-term projects.
Demonstrated ability to function effectively in a team environment as well as be a strong individual contributor.
Must work effectively with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
Strong project management skills and attention to detail.
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications; highly proficient in Excel and PowerPoint. Proficiency in Adobe Pro desirable.

Flexible to work extended hours including weekends.
Travel may be required.
