Building Services has an outstanding opportunity for a Window Washer to be responsible for cleaning exterior and interior windows on the University of Washington campus. The Window Washer is expected to perform in a manner that positively reflects on the University, Building Services Department and Custodial Services in his or her function and follow established protocols in cleaning the windows of over 100 buildings on campus.
Typical Work and Responsibilities
Wash and clean windows and door glass (inside and outside) using ladders, spider scaling equipment, safety belts, tucker and extension poles, hydraulic lift, etc.
Bo's'n chair work including the ability to wash and squeegee windows from left to right of the suspended Bo's'n chair.
Lift and reposition sections and extension ladders weighing 10-16 pounds from window to window. Must be able to climb and wash windows on both sides of a ladder.
Operate vehicles such as University vans and trucks to transport tools and equipment to various worksites.
Remove paint, stain and dirt from glass surfaces
Move and replace furniture, fixtures and equipment to gain access to windows
Service and maintain work equipment

Minimum requirements include:
Physical ability to work on building exteriors above ground level.
Additional requirements include:
Experience using ladders, scaffolding, and working at heights greater than one story.
Valid Washington State Driver's License.
Must be able to follow written and/or verbal instructions and communicate in English regarding the use of chemicals, supplies, and equipment; comply with safety policies and procedures.
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
Desired Qualifications include:
Two years or more experience as a Window Washer
Experience using Bo's'n chairs, extension poles, and hydraulic lift.
Conditions of Employment include:
Valid Washington State Driver's License.
Must be able to lift occasionally loads up to 50 lbs.
Ability to work in a smoke-free environment
