This position will serve as the Agriculture Program Coordinator for Cornell Cooperative Extension Association of Jefferson County and will provide program coordination and support for the Agriculture and Natural Resources Program Area, including production agriculture, horticulture, local food and food hub programming and project initiatives. This position will assist in the development of a detailed map-able database of the Food System in the contiguous counties of Jefferson, Lewis, Oswego and St. Lawrence. This position will work to obtain information through grower/producer and market support and outreach to determine existing and needed infrastructure, identify efficient transportation routes and facilitate needed networks between growers/producers and markets in conjunction with the Food Hub Team. This position will work with a state public authority's ArcGIS mapping database system and Regional Food Systems Team to create a replicable, successful food hub implementation process model. This position will organize and coordinate activities and events relating to agriculture programming; coordinate all aspects of the enrollment and reporting processes; and will provide administrative assistance in support of assigned agriculture and natural resources programming efforts. This position will assist in data collection and database entry. This position will assist in the preparation of reports, presentations and any outreach materials to support identified projects. This position will conduct direct programming via social media efforts and will write, design/layout program flyers, newsletters, articles, etc. This position will serve as an accessible resource to program staff and volunteers as appropriate, and will utilize existing program resources and materials in program work. This position will assist in delivering and evaluating other agriculture educational programs as defined.

This position is a full-time non-exempt position - 100% FTE, 40 hours per week. The hourly rate is $16.15. This position, based on eligibility, offers a comprehensive benefit package, to include: health and dental insurance, retirement, vacation, sick and personal leave.
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent education (Associate's Degree and 2 years of transferrable program/functional experience).

Provide administrative assistance in planning the direction of Global Information Systems (GIS) data results and analysis.
Provide limited-complex administrative tasks in the planning of educational programs, including appropriate use and type of social media to disseminate information for production agriculture, horticulture; local food; and food hub programs.
Assist Issue Leader and other program staff with the planning of the delivery of established educational program goals.
Assist Issue Leader with identifying, anticipating, recommending and planning for assigned program needs/supplies.
Provide administrative assistance in planning the direction of mass media efforts.
Management - 5%
Solve problems and resolve conflicts that arise in program area in accordance with existing policies and procedures.
Provide low-complexity administrative management of established educational program goals.
Assist in guiding the implementation of the program area budgets.
Provide low-complexity administrative tasks in guiding the implementation of communication strategies to support program efforts.
Coordination/Operation - 75%
Provide moderately-complex coordination and administrative support tasks for the planned activities and programming initiatives of production agriculture programs; local food programs; food hub initiatives; and horticulture programs.
Collect, enter, manipulate, and create a map-able database of farm production information, wholesale and retail markets, institutions, restaurants, commercial kitchens, USDA inspected and custom cut slaughter facilities, and other food system infrastructure in the contiguous counties of Jefferson, Lewis, Oswego and St. Lawrence Counties.
Coordinate and assist with farm visits to support administrative tasks related to the GIS mapping project and other programming initiatives as defined.
Provide administrative support to the Issue Leader as directed.
Organize and coordinate program activities for assigned programming areas.
Coordinate all aspects of enrollment, data entry, data manipulation, and reporting requirements for production agriculture, horticulture; local foods; food hub; and other programs in the agriculture area as defined.
Assist with program evaluation to include: collecting evaluation and needs assessment forms from program participants for all assigned program areas as appropriate.
Assist in data collection and entry as well as data analysis.
Assist in coordinating and communicating regarding committee meetings to ensure program area committees are meeting on a regular basis.
Assist in the coordination of program classes, workshops and events.
Coordinate, compile and organize existing program resources and program materials.
Under the direction of the Issue Leader, coordinate and assist with special projects and outreach efforts as instructed.
Effectively maintain existing professional relationships with other agriculture agencies, organizations and businesses that promote effective communication and facilitate continued programming efforts.
Provide administrative support for the coordination and implementation of multi-media efforts in the promotion of programming.
Assist in preparation of reports, presentations and outreach materials to support the Issue Leader's assigned program areas.
Assist with administrative support for the preparation of grant applications.
Post to social media and websites to promote and provide updates on agricultural programming and resources in the area of production agriculture; horticulture; local food; food hub; and other agriculture initiatives as directed.
Draft communications, flyers, program brochures and correspondence for assigned program areas.
Provide outreach to any and all groups identified as important to the development of assigned projects and programs.
