Under the direction of the Epic Data Warehouse Manager, the Data Warehouse Lead is responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating a data warehouse to support UW Medicine and multiple affiliate organizations. The primary responsibilities of the Data Warehouse Lead:
In conjunction with team members, coordinate the design, development, deployment, and support of the Epic Data Warehouse.
Manage internal team and ITS level projects, enhancements, and processes.
Lead day to day operations of the Epic Data Warehouse Architect team.
Lead the overall data strategy for Epic Data Warehouse team's analytical platforms.
The Epic Data Warehouse Group provides data from the Epic Electronic Medical Record system to a data warehouse to facilitate financial and clinical reporting to all of UW Medicine. The challenges this role would face include:
Lead a team of experienced data architects and technical staff to build and maintain a reporting infrastructure that meets the demands of UW Medicine Analytics.
Obtain requirements from Analytics Consulting Team and understand needs of various UW Medicine departments, and work with data architects and ETL architects to provide solutions to meet requirements.
Provide technical guidance, establishing oneself as an advisor to the cross-functional BI stakeholders.
Maintain a high level of awareness of the current and future database technologies and best practices.
Fully understand the various organizational structures of UW Medicine and their requirements.
Responsibilities include: Coordinate and own the design, development, deployment, and support of the Epic Data Warehouse (50%)
Take ownership of current development processes, document them, enhance and improve them, and ensure they are followed by the data warehouse architects.
Manage day-to-day operations and priorities of each member of the team, including ETL Architect, Data Architects, Data Warehouse Analyst, and Extract Developer.
Coordinate deployments of financial and clinical dimensional data mart changes, made by the architects throughout the month, to make sure they are successful in conjunction with the ETL process, SQL DBA duties, and reporting dependencies.
Take initiative to make improvements to process, increase relationships with data stewards, reach out to affiliated developers and departments to assist in solution development, market our products and solutions throughout the enterprise, and facilitate the use of the Epic data warehouse to help improve the health of the public.
Translate requirements, source mapping documents, tools, and models into solutions.
Facilitate code reviews, troubleshoot SQL, understand technical dependencies, and coordinate communications to customers as needed.
Manage internal team development projects and enhancements, as well as incoming analytics and ITS projects (50%)
Work with the Business Analysts from the Analytics Consulting Team to capture, document, and analyze business requirements: transitioning to technical solutions.
Attend PMO project meetings to give status updates and obtain requirements from project intake.
Assign work to architects and developers for project tasks and help prioritize them in with production support.
Lead the implementation of the Epic Caboodle Data Warehouse alongside the current UW Medicine (Epic) Data Warehouse. Coordinate intake of Non-Epic data into Caboodle from ancillary systems.
Prioritize workload and produce accurate work estimates for all solution implementations.
What you'll bring to the table: (minimum requirements)
Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science or related field ?or equivalent combination of education/experience.
5+ years' experience on a data warehouse team as an analyst or developer/architect.
Experience leading or coordinating a team of developers.
Demonstrable knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server, SSIS, SSAS.
Healthcare industry experience.
Effective communication and organizational skills.
Ideally, you'll also have: (desired skills and experience)
Previous working experience with Epic desired.
Project management experience.
