The University of Pikeville is seeking applications for the position of Coordinator for Student Activities. This position is responsible for the day-to-day facilitation of evening and weekend student events. This individual will focus upon creating and supporting programs which promote student success through social, cultural, multicultural, educational, and recreational activities. Events will enhance co-curricular learning, cultivate a strong sense of community, encourage civic engagement, and promote student involvement within the University of Pikeville and local community. This position is a full-time, live in professional staff member.
Assist in creating and implementing a comprehensive co-curricular leadership program, including focused international student and diversity programs(some of which will occur during University break periods), programming to engage commuter and transfer students, and advise the Campus Activities Board (CAB). Facilitate and chaperone student events, trips, and conferences both on and off campus.
Oversee the daily operation of the student lounges, game rooms, and student weight room including weekday and weekend programming.
Work in tandem with the Director of Student Activities and the Student Government Association (SGA) to provide oversight for student clubs, including but not limited to the student activity fee, club adviser training, club officer training, and advise the Campus Activities Board (CAB).
Coordinate off-campus transportation shuttles to local venues, including regional day trips and airport shuttles; supervise group of student certified drivers.
Assist with major campus events, including New Student Orientation, GROWL Days, Homecoming Week, Campus Wide Student Activities Programs, and Graduation Week.
Assist in the development and implementation of a marketing plan to promote campus activity programming to the campus community, to the local community (when appropriate) and to engage student interest.
Maintain and implement features of our campus events management system, Presence.
Develop and monitor the campus activities, intramural, and student lounge budgets as well as review and approve requests and contracts.
Plan, organize, and implement an intramural program that encourages participation of both genders and all Colleges of the University.
Serve on an on-call rotation with the Residence Life Area Coordinators and when notified of emergencies, support must be provided as needed on a 24/7 basis (even if overtime will be incurred).
Perform assigned responsibilities, duties, and tasks according to established practices, procedures, techniques, and standards in a safe manner and with minimal supervision.
Maintains accurate records of all student activities events and activities (including event proposals, budgets, contacts, contracts, media/publicity, and evaluations);
Performs all other duties, as assigned.
Compliance Responsibilities: Insure that mandated requirements are met and that documentation is maintained per policies and procedures; insure that any and all assigned personnel are fully trained and qualified to perform job duties and responsibilities; insure that certification and qualifications are maintained per job description.
Bachelor’s degree required.
Master’s degree preferred.
Two to five years of experience in Student/Activities/Student Affairs preferred.
Willing to work late evenings and weekends.
Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.).
Must also demonstrate strong conceptual planning, excellent communication, and organizational and time management skills.
Strong understanding of extracurricular student activities.
