Cooperative Extension at North Carolina A&T State University is seeking qualified applicants to fill the position of Extension Associate – 4-H STEM. The Extension Associate for 4-H STEM collaborates with the 4-H STEM Specialist for the development, management, implementation, and evaluation of a comprehensive, research based statewide science, technology, engineering and math focused 4-H youth development program. This program should appeal to and meet the needs of a diverse non-traditional, limited-resource youth audience and be consistent with the philosophy, policy and overall mission, goals and educational objectives of Cooperative Extension at NC A&T. This position assists with on-going program evaluation and recommends program revisions based on data and evolving needs of the audience served. In addition, this position independently designs and implements programs as assigned.
The Extension Associate for 4-H STEM collaborates with the 4-H STEM Specialist to develop and implement relevant professional development opportunities for county staff and program volunteers. This position works specifically to coordinate and develop youth programs that increase skills and competencies in science, technology, engineering, and math. The Extension Associate will manage programs related to robotics, makerspaces, and engineering design process.

The Cooperative Extension Program at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University is an educational outreach organization within the College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences. Cooperative Extension at A&T provides researched-based educational information, programming and technical assistance to limited-resource audiences that address a diverse range of issues in four programmatic areas – Agriculture and Natural Resources, Family and Consumer Sciences, Community and Rural Development, and 4-H Youth Development. Together with its partners – North Carolina State Extension Service, U.S. Department of Agriculture, state and county governments, a dynamic and resourceful system is formed. In addition to campus operations, Cooperative Extension has professionally staffed offices in almost half of the 100 counties in North Carolina and the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indian Nation. -Master's degree required with at least one degree in a science based discipline, engineering, technology, computer technology or related field. -Three or more years of experience working in a science or technical-related occupation. -Computer literacy (proficiency in MS Excel, PowerPoint and Office, etc.; experience with statistical analysis software preferred). -Strong oral and written communication skills as well as strong interpersonal skills. -Ability to assist with planning, implementing, marketing, and evaluating educational programs. -Ability to handle multiple demands and set priorities. -Valid driver's license and personal transportation. -Ability to travel and work after hours/weekends as needed.
In addition to Master's degree, three or more years of work experience in science or technology. -Experience serving in a youth organization. -Experience in development of training curriculum/training materials. -Experience working effectively as a team member. -Ability to manage time and resources.
