This position functions as the technical expert in the area of Smart City and Smart Mobility; performs research on projects at the Center for Automotive Research (CAR) that are related to Smart City initiatives, Smart Mobility research, and Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS); recognizes and promotes the interdisciplinary nature of CAR activities across multiple departments and research centers; collaborates with the Smart mobility program manager at the university, as well as, with Columbus city leaders and other central Ohio civic leaders; supports CAR faculty and staff in research programs related to smart mobility, transportation systems, and data analytics systems; plans, conducts, and demonstrates activities for Smart City and Smart Mobility programs; supervises students and mentors other researchers on projects; develops and maintains research facilities; assists with identifying new research programs; performs project administration, coordination, and management functions.
Doctoral degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Transportation or Intelligent Transportation Systems, or related area, or an equivalent combination of education and experience; extensive experience in the area of integrating connected city, mobility, and information systems and applications to improve safety, health, and movement of city populations; experience with energy and environmental sustainability programs as related to vehicle emissions; experience in project management and administration; experience/knowledge of computer systems and information system architectures that are employed in big data and analytics applications; deep skill sets in identifying, visualizing and communicating large systems-oriented concepts and applications as it relates to smart cities and mobility.
Experience preparing industry, government, and collaborative research proposals; experience with local, national, and international collaborations; experience participating and managing components of large, multidisciplinary teams.
Target Salary: $65,000.00 - $72,000.00 Annually
