The Plasma Physics Team of T-5 Applied Math & Plasma Physics Group in the Theoretical Division is seeking candidates for postdoctoral appointments in theoretical and computational plasma physics research. A broad range of research projects is available in tokamak disruption and mitigation, targeting MHD stability and magnetic reconnection, particle and energy transport, atomic physics processes and radiation, runaway electron dynamics, boundary plasma physics and plasma-material interaction.
Candidates may also be nominated for a Director's Fellowship and outstanding candidates may be considered for the prestigious Richard P. Feynman and J. Robert Oppenheimer Fellowships. Applicants with US citizenship will also be considered for the Metropolis Postdoctoral Fellowship in Computational Physics. For the named fellowship, the research scope can be broadened to include any topic of mutual interest, for example, in inertial confinement fusion, laser-plasma interaction, space and astrophysical plasmas, and computational methods.
PhD in a related field, completed within the past five years or soon to be completed.
