UW Medicine has an outstanding opportunity for a TEMPORARY PART-TIME LABORATORY HELPER. This position is responsible for performing duties assigned in the Pathology lab area such as filing tissue, washing dishes, specimen pick up, stocking work stations, clean-up and solution preparation at frozen stain line. Under the direct supervision of the AP Supervisor or designee, this position provides support to the Anatomic Pathology department through specific duties listed previously as well as transport of lab specimens, slides or mail within department or to the COM box.
Cleans laboratory glassware, sinks, work benches, and equipment, using appropriate solvents, brushes and cloths
Follows standard precautions at all times
Changes frozen section stain line
Files tissue accurately and assists in tissue discard
Stocks all work stations
Interacts with other Pathology Laboratory personnel in a professional manner
Drops off packages at COM box
Assists PA's, Residents and Attending Physicians as needed
Maintains patient confidentiality and privacy
Picks up specimens in operating rooms
Performs other duties as required
