The throughput operations RN shift supervisor leads the Throughput Operation team in proactively facilitating the placement of patients throughout the LRH medical center. Utilizing advanced clinical & critical thinking skills, the supervisor directs the placement of patients to appropriate beds by screening & prioritizing admission requests. Accepts referrals to the Throughput Operations center determining medical necessity, urgency of transfer, provides resolution to transfer request whilst ensuring that LRMC transfer policies & EMTALA requirements are met. Functions as an expert for the tele-tracking systems and Throughput Operation placement plan. Proactively communicates with the assigned Department Manager/ Bed Director or Administrative Manager escalating delayed placement as required. Responsible for adhering to the regulatory, and departmental policies and procedures and must identify opportunities for and contribute to the improvement of quality, safety and cost, as well as patient customer and employee satisfaction. |
* Standard Work Duties: Supervisor - Throughput Operations Center (RN) - Oversees per shift operations & department operations. Receives requests to LRH for inter-facility transfers. Investigate, co-ordinate, accept or deny based on medical necessity, urgency, LRMC transfer policies & EMTALA guidelines. Proactively responds to any delay in cleaning or transport process by escalating to department supervisor or manager. - Consistently demonstrates appropriate judgment in addressing and escalation of events impacting the throughput of the medical center. Delay in placing patients of no greater than 15 minutes escalated to the Department Manager/Bed Director or Administrative Manager. - Multi task & operate multiple software program in general performance of job role including: quick registration on general adult direct admissions, ensuring that the patient's safety is maintained at all times, pull through/convert process on all ED patients using the SMS/ADT system, and utilizes & aligns the clean next process by ensuring that all next dirty beds to be assigned or assigned dirty beds are escalated to a clean next process. - Demonstration of superior customer service skills as positive interaction with hospital staff, physicians, physician offices, nursing homes and other hospitals is expected. - Collect, report, and maintain required records, reports, and statistics, ensures compliance with established department and hospital policies, procedures, performance improvement, safety, environmental, infection control and regulatory standards. - Oversees personnel actions in collaboration with Assistant Director/Director including, but not limited to: Professional and team development, coaching, counseling, performance appraisals and onboarding of new team members. - Actively support and promote a professional practice model that encourages staff participation in shared governance, and continue personal professional development through participation in department and/or hospital wide committees. - Plan, schedule, and organize staff to ensure proper distribution and delegation of assignments and efficient utilization of personnel. - Utilizing advanced clinical skills proactively screens & prioritizes placements using the Throughput Operations placement plan. Critically resolves complex's situations or escalates as appropriate to Department Manager/Bed Director/Administrative Manager and updates emergency management systems & coordination of emergency operations plan for the purpose of bed capacity. - Exhibits courtesy, politeness and professionalism in all interactions with hospital staff, physicians' offices and patients to elicit positive customer service relations. Maintains patient, employee, physicians and organizational confidentiality; respects the right and privacy of all others in compliance with HIPPA regulations. |
Education Essential: * Associate Degree Nonessential: * Bachelor Degree Education Equivalent Experience: * Nursing Licenses Essential: RN, BLS Certifications Preferred: In Specialty area Experience Essential: Three to five years of experience in professional/technical role requiring progressive increase in responsibility.
