The Sr. Director of Spacecraft Programs reports to the VP Programs, Space Technologies and Spacecraft (STS) Business Unit (BU) in SNC’s Space Systems Business Area (BA), and is responsible for the overall direction and management of spacecraft programs through designated Program Managers, in accordance with SNC’s Program Management and Planning/Tracking (PMAP/T), the consistency of corporate strategy, consistency of PMAP/T process across programs and projects, and customer satisfaction with the products and services provided. This Profit and Loss (P&L) role oversees both successful execution of current Spacecraft programs and supports the continued growth of the BU through both follow-on and new business capture.
PROGRAM MANAGEMENT AND PLANNING PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
-Responsible to build and maintain positive customer relations with existing and new customer base
-Oversees Program/Direct, B&P, IR&D, and Program P&L performance, including proposal development, program plans, program financial status, technical and contractual performance
-Conduct Program Management Reviews (PMR)
-Responsible for follow-on Business Development activities in accordance with the Capture Management and Planning (CMAP) Process
-Update Program, B&P and IR&D status for quarterly CPPM meetings
-Oversee Program Labor Resource Utilization and Management
-Support the development and execution of the annual indirect budget and capital expenditure requirements for Program Area, in accordance with the Financial Management and Planning (FMAP) Process and the Indirect Budget Management Procedure
-Supervises and provides guidance and direction to Program Managers in addressing program issues
-Coordinates with BA functional leadership in Engineering, Contracts, Finance, Procurement, HR, and other areas to ensure successful program execution and BU growth.
-Responsible for ensuring compliance with approved Corporate and ISO 9001:2000 Policies and Processes
DELEGATION OF AUTHORITY RESPONSIBILITIES:
-Responsible for thoughtful adherence to all SNC Delegation of Authority requirements
-Responsible for thoughtful adherence to all SNC Policies, Procedures, and Compliance regulations (internal and external)
-Responsible for timely execution of all personnel-related activities such as Time Sheet completion, Performance Evaluations, Salary Reviews, Succession Planning, etc.
-Responsible for leadership oversight and for ensuring Department/Team training
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
-Requires a BA/BS in Engineering or Related Field
-15 years engineering and/or aerospace experience or equivalent industry experience
-Active TS/SCI Clearance Required
-Proven successful experience in Space program management, development engineering and/or operational experience relevant to the product line / business area
-Business management and leadership skills usually acquired primarily through experience. Short courses, seminars, and post graduate study all contribute to the skills required for this position
-Minimum Fundamental Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities as stated in SNC's Responsibility Matrix
This position requires current/active Top Secret/SCI U.S. Security Clearance. U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position needs an active U.S. Security Clearance for employment. Non-US citizens may not be eligible to obtain a security clearance. The Defense Industrial Security Clearance Office (DISCO), an agency of the Department of Defense, handles and adjudicates the security clearance process. Security clearance factors include, but are not limited to, allegiance to the US, foreign influence, foreign preference, criminal conduct, security violations and drug involvement.
