The VP Operations Space Systems reports to the SVP, Space Systems. The VP Operations Space Systems is responsible for all facets of production in support of Programs by providing leadership, oversight and vision, for the assigned Business Area which includes ensuring consistency with corporate strategy, consistency of process, and internal/external customer satisfaction with the products and services provided in accordance with SNC's Operations Management and Planning/Tracking (OMAP/T) Process.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
-Operations and TS Resource Utilization and Management which includes ensuring adequate capacity in terms of labor and equipment resources are available to support demands, this may include the following functions and departments- Manufacturing and Test Engineering, Product Assurance, Production and Material Planning, Production Technicians, Inspection, Warehouse and Government Property
-Operations direct labor and material resource review including validating projections to support accurate financial planning
-Establishing priorities and production schedules to support program critical milestones and delivery requirements
-Coordination and close integration with executive management, program management, engineering design, procurement, subcontracts and other department managers to ensure the company’s production objectives are supported
-Responsible for ensuring compliance with approved Corporate and ISO 9001:2000 Policies and Processes including adhering to proper internal controls
-Reviews and approves policies, procedures and work instructions affecting the efficiency of the Operations departments
-Applying continuous productivity and process improvement principles to improve cycle-time, throughput and overall efficiency in all areas of Production Operations while maintaining applicable compliance requirements
-Coordination with Corporate Operations function as the space business area representative for operations functions, tools, processes and procedures
Production Program Oversight -
-Operations Management Program Planning including Cash Flow, Revenue, Earnings and Labor & Non-labor Projections in accordance with SNC's Financial Management and Planning Process (FMAP)
-Program/Direct, B&P and IR&D Operations performance, including proposal development, Program Management Plan OPP inputs, Operations technical and contractual performance
-Analysis of Program Management information by operations organization
-Provide guidance and direction to Program Directors and Managers in addressing program issues
-Participate in monthly Program Management Reviews (PMR) ensuring Operations estimates are accurately reflected and to provide production inputs and status
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
-Responsible for supporting the development and execution of the annual indirect budget and capital expenditure requirements for Operations Area, in accordance with the Financial Management and Planning (FMAP)
-Process and the Indirect Budget Management Procedure
-Responsible for Engineering services functional support to programs including CADPDM/PLM management, Configuration Management
-Responsible for employee safety programs through internal business area OSHA safety organization
-Responsible for maintenance and continuous improvement activities of the business area Quality Management System (QMS)
-Responsible for development and maintenance of the overall business area training department, organization and systems
-Responsible to build and maintain positive internal/external customer relations
-Provides leadership, oversight and vision for all Operations related activities and personnel
-Responsible for the facilities and maintenance departments as assigned, including production facilities, production and test equipment, office area maintenance, and overall facility infrastructure
-Conducting monthly Operations Reviews to status programs and Production Operations performance against objectives
-Review Operations performance metrics to ensure efficiency of Operations areas
-Punctuality to work each day and prepared to work scheduled work hours Other duties as assigned
DELEGATION OF AUTHORITY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for thoughtful adherence to all SNC Delegation of Authority requirements Review Delegation of Authority thresholds as applicable to job position stated in the DOA Responsibility Matrix COMPLIANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
-Responsible for thoughtful adherence to all SNC Policies, Procedures, and Compliance regulations (internal and external)
-Responsible for timely execution of all personnel-related activities such as Time Sheet completion, Performance Evaluations (Anniversary and Annual), Salary Reviews, Succession Planning, etc.
-Responsible for leadership oversight and for ensuring Department/Team training and adherence to all SNC Policies, Procedures, and Compliance Regulations (internal and external)
-Minimum physical requirements to perform all duties and responsibilities, as defined by management
-Specialized course studies or experience in Government Procurement, FAR/DFARS, and Manufacturing methods
-Professional certification in the Manufacturing Engineering Society (MES)
-Active TS/SCI clearance is strongly preferred
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
-Requires a broad knowledge of Operations, Quality Assurance, Manufacturing methods, and organizational structure and personnel management earned through at least 15 years of related experience in increasing levels of management and authority at Aerospace and Defense-related corporations
This position requires ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/SCI U.S Security Clearance.
