Position Summary: We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Manager.
In this role, the successful candidate Responsible for overseeing the performance of the daily inventor
Ensures proper protocol is used during sterile processing preparation and assembly, inspection and packaging and all sterilization processes; delivers sterile packages and maintain related records.
Monitors and audits inventory by conducting random sampling of products; ensures instruments and supplies meet criteria standards prior to delivery to the department.
Utilizes the instrument tracking system to search, update, and modify instrument data.
Ensures infection control guidelines are followed during the transferring, storing and transporting of sterile packages.
Provides support to the Director and Clinical Coordinator and direction to the staff (CS and Materials), and facilitates the workflow through the department (e.g., assists with training newly hired staff in the procedures of the departmental and pertinent Medical Center policies).
Utilizes advanced expertise and problem-solving skills to assist staffin the performance of their jobs.
Interacts with instrumentation manufacturers to ensure proper adherence by CSS to AAMI recommendations governing the decontamination and sterilization of complex surgical instrumentation.
Interacts and collaborates with surgeons, Director and Clinical Coordinator and other O.R. Staff to resolve conflicts, develop solutions to operational problems, develop and update procedures, instrument trays, case cart pick lists and, physicians' preference lists. Develops and maintains good working relationships with all customers.
Overseas the performance of the daily inventory of all OR Case Cart supplies, working with the Materialst o ensure the uninterrupted flow of Case Cart Supplies to the OR.
Reviews the daily Case Cart pick sheet sumrfiaryr eport for missing supply items and instrumentation for the adequacy of inventory levels on hand. Works with the Materials to resolve supply shortages. Identifies repetitive problems with instrumentation levels and reviews needs with the Clinical Coordinator to establish the appropriate inventory levels.
Responsible for maintaining the computerized Instrumentation Inventory Control System, makes changes to the existing count sheets as requested by the OR Clinical Coordinators. Adds and deletes as appropriate count sheets for new and obsolete kits.
Coordinates the repair/replacement and sharpening of instrumentation through various vendors to ensure the proper condition of all items are maintained on the kits.
Responsible for maintaining adequate instrumentation and supply inventory levels by performing the duties of a buyer and a receiver on the Hospital Materials Management System [PMM].
Assists in the development of the Capital Budget Requests for both Central Sterile Supply and the OR and executes capital budget purchasing requests as funds are made available. Works with the Materials to establish supply systems to include the establishment of shelf par levels for all sterile items dispensed by C.S,S. to both the in-patient and ancillary userareas.
Works with the C.S.S. management staff to resolve any inventory issues (supply instrument, linen) and to review existing systems for effectiveness and appropriateness. Revise Policies and Procedva'es to allow for improved support for user areas.
Plans for coverage of the Materials and Central in their absence. Completes all special CSS +Materials management projects as directed by the Director and or Clinical Coordinator.
May represents the department of CS and Materials on several committees to provide updated inventory data to effectively reflect items supplied from CS and Materials to all user areas on the PMM System.
Works at developing systems with the Director and or Clinical Coordinator to streamline and consolidatet he existing OR kit and instrumentin ventories. Working in cooperation with the purchasingd epartmenti, dentifiesa nd pursuesc hanges in products; costs, vendors and/or practices to reduce materials expense in CS and Materials.
Minimum Qualifications: To qualify you must have a High school diploma or equivalent. Current certification for Central Service by an accredited agency - IAHCSMM. Minimum 5+ yrs experience of SPD or 2 years experience SPD with certification asinstruments pecialista nd proven abilitiesi n Materials( PMM or equivalents ystem). Must hold comprehensive knowledge and experience in surgical instrumentation in Orthopedics. Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to interpret procedural policies and to follow written instructions required. Ability to perform detailed work and basic mathematical calculations. Must have a thorough knowledge of microbiology as it relates to SPD and OR, cleaning procedures, disinfection and sterilization protocols, and the maintenance, disassembly and assembly of hospital equipment, surgical instruments and regulatory standards. Operational knowledge of standard OR surgical supplies, prostheses, instruments, and equipment. Knowledge of medical terminology, including surgical procedures, and human anatomy is required. Previous experience maintaining and operating al! pieces of automated and mechanical equipment used in the processing areas (e.g., washer/decontaminator, sterilizer, cart washer, etc.). Ability to operate basic office equipment (e.g., personal computer, photocopier, etc.)
Preferred Qualifications: Completion of formal leadership education and/or the Certification in Healthcare Leadership concepts. Knowledge in SPM InstrumentT racking system and PMM Materialso rdering system
