The CCE Dutchess County 4-H Educator serves as a member of the 4-H Youth Development team and works under the general supervision of the Association 4-H Youth Development Issue Leader, to carry out implementation of the 4-H Youth Development programs for 4-H Club and Afterschool programming and for animal/vet science programs. The 4-H Educator is responsible for planning, management and operations of 4-H programming and for several animal and vet science programs. This person will manage and coordinate collaborations with schools and afterschool program staff as well as provide guidance and oversight to 4-H Volunteers. Responsible for management of short and long-term programs for 4-H Cloverbuds and Members and in conjunction with the 4-H Issue Leader will oversee objectives and plans for business management and marketing. Represents the Association to the public, community leaders, government officials, and Cornell University.

Bachelor's Degree with course work in Education, Science, Animal Science and/or Youth Development related field.
One year volunteer or related work experience.
Experience relevant to the role of the position.

Ability to work flexible hours which may include evenings and/or weekends, as appropriate.

Coursework or experience in Youth Development.
Ability to communicate in Spanish both verbally and in writing.
Responsibilities/Essential Functions: Program Responsibilities:
Program Delivery - 45%
Deliver high quality 4-H Youth development educational programs and events that address local, regional and statewide 4-H Youth Development programming priorities with emphasis on 4-H Club and Afterschool programs, and Animal/Vet Sciences. Assist in teaching innovative educational programs when grant-funded opportunities arises.
Utilize a variety of delivery systems, including written articles, newsletters, demonstration projects, special events, tours, media, electronic technology, internet, and distance learning to deliver programs.
Serve as subject matter resource and Apply subject matter knowledge to create lesson plans to deliver educational programs.
Provide educational program efforts via mass media including contributing articles to the newsletter, utilizing emails, phone messages, and website postings.
Represent the Association to the public, program participants, community leaders, government officials and Cornell University, and others in a professional manner at all times.
Program Evaluation - 2.5%
In collaboration with the Issue Leader review the evaluations of programs and make recommendations working with the 4-H Issue Leader for strengthening and improving programs.
Confer with program participants, association leadership, Cornell Program Coordinators and faculty, and county and community leaders to obtain their evaluation of programs.
Direction - 5%
May provide input to the planning of educational programs for Club and Afterschool programs and Animal/Vet Science programs,, based on program evaluation data, changing local priorities and available funding.
Assist with establishing program goals and priorities, including providing input from the community and local stakeholders on program needs.
Assist with development of marketing strategies, and special events to reach target audiences and meet program objectives.
Provide supervisor with program related information to assist the programmatic budget development process, including strategies for development via grants, contracts, fees, contributions and other sources of revenue.
Develop and enhance networks of volunteers and/or professionals and non-professionals to extend program implementation.
Strategize ways to expand effective 4-H Youth Development networks.
Provide input into the planning of all programs to consider the needs of diverse program participants
Management - 37.5%
Provide program guidance and direction to the volunteers participating in the 4-H Club, Afterschool and Animal/Vet Science programs. Asssist in resolving issues with purposeful interaction with clientele as necessary.
Responsible for managing program budget in collaboration with the 4-H Issue Leader.
Recruit and oversee volunteers to assist with programming.
Assist in the implementation of a program budget including assistance to identify community and fiscal resources for program continuance and enhancement.
Manage the implementation of communication strategies to expand program and build awareness.
Coordination/Operation - 5%
Compile and prepare teaching materials necessary for 4-H Youth Development programs.
Utilize mass media efforts related to program implementation and communication strategies.
Implement, execute and maintain communication with constituents and the community through a variety of methods such as newsletters, emails, electronic technology, internet, social media, website postings and content.
Distribute program materials to inform communities of program(s).
Collect program data and maintain accurate records of program participants.
Act as contact for volunteers and volunteer leaders within the County; provide responses to inquiries.
Provide input for the development of written marketing materials to highlight a program(s).
Prepare reports demonstrating program progress, accomplishments and the impact on the community.
Serve as liaison with community to expand 4-H Youth Development networks such as the local 4-H Alumni Network.
Professional Improvement - 5%
In cooperation with Supervisor and/or Executive Director, jointly develop and pursue a professional development plan as a means to increase competencies relative to position accountabilities and to address changes and Association priorities.
Collaborate in activities that are in general support of Cornell Cooperative Extension and perform other duties as assigned.
