Campus Services is a division of the Central Administration group of Harvard University. It is comprised of 14 Business Units that provide a variety of services essential to the day-to-day functioning of the University (https://www.campusservices.harvard.edu/ )
The HUIT Administrative Technology Services (ATS) /Campus Services (CS) team is an integral partner of the CS Business Units and helps them deliver innovative, scalable industry-leading IT solutions that enable CS Business Units to provide outstanding services to all Harvard Schools and Central Administration in support of Harvard's mission.
The Director, Application Services role involves working collaboratively in a dynamic, can-do, fast paced environment supporting various Business Units of Campus Services. The person we seek is a highly motivated, creative individual with the ability to make sound decisions utilizing independent judgment. The role requires a broad set of capabilities, including: the ability to manage operational work and responsibilities, lead multiple projects and collaborate successfully with other members of HUIT, business partners, vendors and other teams across the University, and the ability to manage IT road-maps and engage in strategy conversations.
The Director of Application Services is a key leadership role within the HUIT ATS CS team. It combines responsibilities supporting operations/service delivery, projects, strategy and planning for some of the Campus Services business units, with leadership responsibilities for emerging University needs relating to Campus Services businesses.
The responsibilities for this role can be divided into the following areas:
Ensure adequate IT support of business units operations.
Ensure appropriate response to incidents (tickets, and Major Incidents).
Project delivery for business units in scope
Accountable for the on time and on budget delivery of the IT projects needed by the business units.
Effectively manage vendors and professional services staff as a part of the project delivery.
Oversee and/or negotiate vendor agreements and manage vendor relationships, working with Campus Services Procurement.
Account management, strategy and planning for business units in scope
Establish strong, trusted-advisor, partner relationships with the business units Managing Directors and their teams.
Demonstrate strong knowledge of the business units' business
HUIT Operational Technologies
Manage the HUIT Operational Technologies (OT) team.
Ensure the team is delivering on its service and project delivery responsibilities.
Work with various senior members of the Harvard capital project and facilities management community to evolve the road-map and processes for OT for HUIT.
HUIT related responsibilities
Supporting HUIT initiatives that will affect or benefit HUIT-CS
Campus Services level responsibilities
Support the HUIT-CS Senior Director in evolving the Campus Services IT governance process
Support the HUIT-CS Senior Director in evolving the tools/practices used to report on the overall team's work, and get feedback from all Campus Services business units (e.g., dashboards, surveys, etc.)
Ensure that the team under the responsibility of the Director is structured as well as it can be to deliver what the business units need.
Lead by example in demonstrating the UCIO values and in promoting a positive, collaborative, and diverse work environment

Applicants must meet the following basic qualifications in order to be considered:
BA/BS in Computer Science or a related field with 10+ years of experience with progressive responsibility of managing complex IT environments.
Experience with running and managing large IT projects.
Ideally, candidates will possess the following additional qualifications:
Demonstrated ability to build/foster a broad range of business relationships.
Demonstrated ability to lead, develop and mentor teams
Must be passionate about delivering great service.
Strong organizational skills, communication skills (written, oral and presentation) with a concern for accuracy, details and quality.
