Our RADIOLOGY DEPARTMENT (MAGNETIC RES IMAGING) has an outstanding opportunity for a full-time, day shift MEDICAL ASSISTANT. The individual in this position will perform direct patient care, including preparing the patient for and assisting with examinations. Additionally, the MA will:
Monitor patient flow in clinic to assure efficient clinic operations.
Schedule new and return appointments.
Use the computer system to check patients in and out of clinics.
Transport patients and lab specimens.
Order medical, MRI, and clerical supplies and stock examination rooms.
Mop, clean and vacuum floors and rugs in MRI department and take out garbage.
Assist technologists in patient care.
Assist in safe patient transfer onto and off scanner tables and stretchers.
Safely monitor patient's condition pre and post exams and procedures.
Recognize emergent/urgent problems and provide basic screenings.
Perform procedures, including sterile dressing changes and IV removals.
Explain MRI procedures to patients.
Interview and screen patients for MRI exam.
Transport patients from and to MRI to floor or ER.
Transport and setup of MRI compatible patient monitoring and help with MRI I.V. pump.
Setup MRI coils.

Completion of a Medical Assistant course accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) or other recognized regional or national accreditation board;
Legal Requirement: Must be Washington State Medical Assistant-Certified or achieve this designation during the probationary period. Failure to achieve and/or maintain this designation will result in termination of employment.
Competitive candidates will have one year experience providing direct patient care; have knowledge of MRI safety; have knowledge of MRI contraindications; and exhibit clear and concise communications skills, both verbal and written.
