Facilities Services (FS) is a world-class organization providing exceptional services anywhere, anytime in support of the University of Washington's mission of teaching, research, and discovery. FS engages employees through LEAN practices and continuous improvement. FS includes eight departments that operate, maintain and support the University: Administration & Strategic Initiatives (AVP), Building Services Department (BSD), Campus Engineering & Operations (CE&O), Facilities Employee Services (FES), Facilities Maintenance & Construction (FMC), Finance and Business Services (FABS), Transportations Services (TS), and UW Emergency Management (EM).
Finance & Business Services has an outstanding opportunity for an IT Technology Project Manager to develop, manage, and continually improve the project portfolio processes, supporting Facilities Services IT governance activities, regularly updating leadership on the status of priority projects, and working with the Assistant Director for Information Technology to ensure projects align with the organization's highest priorities. This position will manage project and program work in five core areas within FS IT needs Business Information Systems, Building Automation Systems/cyberphysical systems, endpoint support (workstations, laptops, tablets), data management, and web. Additionally the incumbent will coordinate with and provide guidance to staff in FS departments performing project management tasks within their departments. The IT Project Manager will document project and project portfolio management processes as they are developed and will also provide program management support to FS IT.
Direct Project Management services
-Partner with Facilities Services key staff to provide Project Management services to scope, plan, execute, and document IT and Information Management projects. As needed, develop Requests For Information and Requests for Proposals in support of projects. Review proposed and existing vendor contracts in support of projects. Integrate services with Lean and Balanced Score Card efforts as appropriate.
-Provide program/staff management support for the Business Information Systems, endpoint support, and web core FS IT components.
Maintain project portfolio for Facilities Services
-This is a document that tracks all current IT and Information Management projects. The portfolio includes, but is not limited to, a description and completion status of all IT/Information Management projects within Facilities Services.
-Communicate concisely, yet thoroughly, to FS project constituents regarding project scope, objectives, and status in multiple formats that include email, in person meetings, phone calls, web sites/pages, and social media as appropriate.
Develop an FS project management guide/standard This guide/standard will be used by others within Facilities Services that are managing their own projects.

Bachelor's Degree in business administration, computer science, or related field.
Minimum of four years of experience performing progressively more complex tasks in information and technical project management activities.
Demonstrated advanced project management soft skills, including; o tolerance for ambiguity, o the ability to earn the trust of stakeholders, o the ability to motivate team members, o tenacious problem ownership, o the ability to deliver bad news gracefully, and o a dedication to customer advocacy.
Experience communicating with executive management as well as staff
Experience coordinating across multiple departments and organizations
Proven ability to speak and write clearly and precisely about technical issues for both technical and non-technical audiences.
Demonstrated ability to manage large technical projects
Experience with managing internal and external vendors/service providers
Ability to manage a diverse range of activities in a very visible and pressured environment, exercising independent judgment in resolving problems.
Experience in the project management lifecycle and corresponding tools such as project charters, work breakdown structure, budgets, issue tracking systems, requirements management systems and project management systems.
Experience with database, spreadsheet and word processing applications.
Experience in a research university or large enterprise.
Experience with Lean processes
Experience with enterprise application development, process design and process improvement.
Understanding of contemporary computing, networking and security technologies, and distributed systems architecture.
Experience with UW information systems and data sources
Equivalent education/experience may substitute for all minimum qualifications.
Experience with Request for Information (RFI) and Request for Proposal (RFP) processes
Experience with Building Information Modeling (BIM) and Construction Operations Building Information Exchange (COBie)
Experience with Balanced Score Card
ITIL Foundations Certification
Experience with Service Now ITIL-based ticket management system
