The Summer Recreation Program Coordinator will provide leadership in planning and implementing the CCE Mt. Morris Summer Recreation Program. The Program Coordinator will provide leadership in planning the daily activities of the program areas (Arts & Crafts, Fitness/Sports, and Educational). The Program Coordinator will supervise Activity Supervisors, Youth Workers, and Youth Counselors. The Program Coordinator will plan field trips and arrange for required transportation. This position will oversee the daily procedures established by the Registrar/Activity Supervisor and Medical/Activity Supervisor. The Program Coordinator will establish a purchase requisition procedure for program supplies. The Program Coordinator will develop a working rapport with government bodies, agencies, and community organizations as a member of the Cornell Cooperative Extension of Livingston County to provide leadership, educational resources, and input into program evaluation, marketing, program supervision, and program development.
I. Duration CCE Mt. Morris Summer Recreation Program includes pre-program planning and coordination; one evening for program registration (date to be determined); one day of training on July 7th; one day to clean and close-up the Summer Program on August 21st; and 6 weeks of programming from July 10th to August 18th. Program runs daily Monday to Friday.
II. Specific Responsibilities Program Responsibilities:
Plan, organize, implement, teach, and evaluate informal educational programs
Plan and arrange all aspects of program field trips
Identify and involve appropriate resources to be involved with the program
Oversee planning of daily activities for program areas (Arts & Crafts, Fitness/Sports, and Educational)
Effectively participate in professional team efforts
Interact with program participants and community leaders to ensure that participants needs are being met
Identify programming gaps that may need to be filled or programming areas that need to be made stronger
Assist the Team Leader with program evaluation
Provide direct supervision to Activity Supervisors, Youth Workers, and Youth Counselors
Perform HR functions: assessment of staff, timesheet approval, and staff scheduling
Manage conflicts that may arise within the program
Engage Team Leader to address any issues that may arise
Work with Team Leader to stay within program budget
Establish a purchase requisition procedure for replenishment of program supplies
Obtain all program supplies
Submit expense vouchers to Team Leader in a timely manner
Coordinate and provide direction to program volunteers
Be familiar and strive to follow any applicable federal, state, local regulations, Association health and safety policy/procedure/requirement and standard
Act proactively to prevent accidents/injuries and communicate hazards to supervisors when identified
Appreciate and embrace diversity in all interactions with staff and the public
Bachelor's Degree in related field
Five years of experience working with youth
Mature personality with excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills
Well organized and ability to coordinate multiple tasks
Proficient computer skills – Excel, Word, and Power Point
Ability to work independently and responsibly with minimal supervision
Communicate effectively through oral, written, and visual channels using traditional educational tools
Familiarity with different learning styles
Familiarity with program delivery methods to reach diverse individuals and groups
Ability to relate to diverse audiences
Ability to meet acceptable background and DMV check standards
Ability to meet travel requirements associated with this position
Ability to transport/move supplies and equipment with or without accommodation
Current CPR and First Aid certification is preferred
Ability to clearly communicate and to read and write in Spanish is preferred
