UW Medicine Supply Chain Management's objective is to ensure our patient care experience is enhanced by delivering a robust foundation of services, operational and technical support, and the sharing of comprehensive, relevant, and highly specialized supply chain management expertise.
UW Medicine Supply Chain Management has an outstanding opportunity for a PART-TIME SUPPLY CHAIN TECHNICIAN 1 (60%, WEEKEND NIGHT SHIFTS), located at UWMC Medical Stores. The Supply Chain Technician 1 (SCT 1) reports to the local Supply Chain Materials & Logistics Supervisor/Manager with additional oversight from the local Assistant Director/Site Lead.
The SCT 1 receives, warehouses, couriers, puts away, requisitions, picks, distributes, and/or delivers general, medical, and surgical supplies and equipment throughout various healthcare settings. Although use of material handling and transportation equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, hand dollies, vans, and cargo trucks is typical for this work, driving a truck that requires a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is not required.
Primary duties include:
Put away supplies into clean rooms, carts, and other supply locations utilizing proper rotation.
Scan inventory labels to generate replenishment orders for both stock and non-stock items.
Pick supplies from storage locations for distribution and placement into Case Carts, and restocking Exchange Carts such as Code (Crash) Carts and Procedural Carts.
Check various supply locations for product expiration dates and removal according to policy.
Perform basic disinfection, storage, and distribution of minor equipment.
Distribute oxygen tanks.
Assist with special projects.
Deliver supplies and packages to various nursing units, clinics, and other locations utilizing appropriate signature technologies.
Answer phone calls and emails and respond to customer service requests.
Perform issues and credits in the Materials Management Information System (MMIS), ensuring the cost of the items are allocated appropriately.
Assist with cycle counts and physical inventories.
Utilize various computer technologies such as handhelds, package scanners, and software programs.
Maintain a clean and organized workspace.
Assist with training Supply Chain staff.
Perform related duties as required.

High School graduation or equivalent.
Healthcare experience preferred.
Proficiency in utilizing the MMIS.
Knowledge of general office equipment such a fax machines, copy machines, and printers.
Ability to work in a busy, high-pressure environment.
Ability to communicate effectively with all stakeholders to include coworkers, management, and clinical partners.
Demonstrated proficiency in English, both written and verbal, including active listening.
Demonstrated proficiency in customer service and problem solving.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Typing, use of computers, computer software, and the ability to learn software applications necessary in the performance of typical work.
Lifting up to 50 pounds without assistance, climbing stairs, kneeling, reaching (overhead/extension), sitting, stooping (bend at waist), and twisting (knees/waist/neck).
Frequently carrying items, crouching, operating a keyboard, pushing/pulling, and hand/eye coordination.
Continuously grasping/handling, lifting, standing, and walking.
