Launch Drivers exist to transport individuals (referees, volunteers, etc.) to/from the race course, monitor safety for student-athletes and other race day participants, and support operational efforts.Duties & Responsibilities –Drive launch boat between dock and race course, along race course and warm-up areas, and idle in specific areas, as needed.Transport camera equipment and operator(s) for live streaming of race.Transport referees to/from race course for official duties.Shuttle volunteers to/from work locations, such as timers and stake boat holders.Monitor crew boat movements to ensure safety of all participants.Remove race course buoys following the conclusion of racing.Communicate with coaches, racing officials, and other support staff via handheld radios.Compliance with the rules and regulations of the University, the NCAA, the Pac-12 Conference, the State of Washington and any other governing body is of paramount importance to the University. The overall responsibility of this position is for the successful operation of the program in full compliance with all such rules and regulations. As a condition of employment, the Employee shall be required to participate in rules education programs offered by the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics.Requirements –Previous coaching or coxswain experience. This requirement can be supplemented with demonstrated significant boating experience.Clear and direct communication skills (in person and via handheld radio).Must be able to lift 25lbs.Employee will be exposed to all elements including sun, rain, wind, and varying temperatures.Shift –Start Date: March 1, 2019End Date: May 10, 2019Must be available to work most UW home race days. Most shifts occur early in the morning, typically, Saturday from 7 AM – 12 PM (Husky Open is 6 AM to 2 PM).
