The Strategic Advisor will support Dr. Ashish Jha, the Dean of Global Strategy and Director of the Harvard Global Health Institute by serving as the key point of contact, driving all strategic priorities and monitoring all tasks related to the execution and implementation of the Dean's broad agenda across all of his leadership roles. The Strategic Advisor will also serve as the liaison and representative with key faculty and senior staff, current and future partners, and potential donors to respond to requests and resolve problems.
Additional duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Facilitate the process of identifying and prioritizing projects, programs, and initiatives for the Dean, managing responsibilities for maximum efficiency and effectiveness and driving decisions with the understanding of the importance of a collaborative process
Provide oversight on time sensitive issues and initiatives that include cross-functional and institutional dimensions while building and sustaining an effective support structure
Work to improve communication and strategic decision-making across various teams at both SPH and HGHI, while keeping the Dean apprised of key initiatives and projects and jumping in to move projects forward wherever necessary
Manage communications, make high-level determinations about the Dean's activities and calendar, provide oversight over scheduling and agendas, convene meetings, and prepare and oversee the preparation of all briefing materials for the Dean, with administrative assistance from the Executive Assistant
Oversee the appropriate handling of all correspondence, calls, and inquiries
Foster productive and collaborative relationships, internally and externally, on behalf of the Dean and serve as a trusted senior advisor
Manage time-sensitive problems through to resolution while continuously anticipating the needs of the Dean
Directly manage and supervise an Executive Assistant who oversees the Dean's calendar and travel, as well as potentially research assistants who are involved in the Dean's lectures and other related activities
Work closely with the Executive Director of HGHI, as well as with the Chief of Staff of the Dean of the Faculty of SPH, to move strategic projects and initiatives forward in an appropriate, effective, and diplomatic manner
Other related duties and projects as needed

Bachelor's Degree required
10+ years of related experience, including progressive experience working with senior leadership and management, required
Master's Degree preferred
Strong project management and organizational skills, and experience setting priorities and managing conflicting goals and agendas in a complex environment are needed preferred
Excellent analytical, verbal and written communication skills, along with a high level of diplomacy preferred
Experience working directly on sensitive topics with senior faculty/leadership, using discretion and problem-solving preferred
Strong facilitation skills, including a combination of focus and flexibility and the willingness to play an active, behind-the-scenes role preferred
Success in developing collaborative relationships, and a successful track record of providing successful advice and counsel to senior leaders preferred
Leadership, influencing and negotiation skills, in addition to working well under pressure and handling stress preferred
