The Women and Health Initiative (W&HI), housed within the Department of Global Health and Population, is a flagship program at the Harvard T. H. Chan School of Public Health founded in 2010. The W&HI draws on resources and expertise from across the Harvard Chan School and broader Harvard community to develop interdisciplinary perspectives and innovative solutions to the challenges women face in the public health arena. The W&HI brings together global partners including academic institutions, governments, foundations, private industry, multi-lateral agencies, non-governmental organizations and committed individuals. The W&HI, led by Dr. Ana Langer, has a demonstrated track record in implementation research, technical collaboration, knowledge management, scientific convening, and consensus-building activities.
The W&HI has a portfolio of work related to ending preventable maternal mortality and morbidity worldwide. The Senior Research Project Coordinator will contribute to a new project whose overall aim is to improve measurement capacity for maternal health through development and validation of priority indicators to inform global standards, and support to countries for their adoption and use. The Senior Project Coordinator will be responsible for overseeing the day- to-day management of project activities focused on research to validate and field test previously developed indicators and activities to encourage their routine use as part of a comprehensive monitoring framework for ending preventable maternal mortality. This project will be led by Dr. Ana Langer and Dr. Rima Jolivet at the Women and Health Initiative at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and carried out in partnership with the coalition of organizations that make up the Ending Preventable Maternal Mortality (EPMM) Working Group. The Senior Project Coordinator will work closely with Drs. Langer and Jolivet and the project steering committee on all activities over the life of the project and will report directly to Dr. Jolivet.
Under the direction of the PIs, the key duties of the Senior Research Project Coordinator will be:
Assisting in the development of the agendas and content, and coordinating the logistics for stakeholder consultation meetings, both in-person and via webinar and telephone
Collating and synthesizing stakeholder feedback and inputs
Conducting literature reviews and critically appraising results
Researching and assisting in the development of study design and methods for project research activities
Leading the coordination and drafting of Institutional Review Board (IRB) applications for project research activities
Co-authoring papers suitable for publication
Managing a collaborative process for on-time sponsor reporting with the project leaders, subcontractors and other members of the W&HI team
Participating in weekly project-related meetings, monthly W&HI team meetings, and other project-related meetings as needed
Supporting fundraising efforts to ensure the continuation and sustainability of EPMM activities
Other project-related tasks, as needed
The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent organizational, administrative and project management skills as well as technical expertise in measure development, monitoring and evaluation, and quantitative research methods.
PLEASE NOTE: This position likely entails minimal travel, estimated 1-3 trips per project year, which could be domestic or international, of no more than one week's duration, for technical meetings organized under the project.
