This is an entry level position with the hours being 7p-3a, Tuesday through Saturday.
Shift assignment(s) are made based on operational needs and subject to change – (see “Work Hours” for hours of operation)
The officer would be expected to perform routine security patrols, investigate reported and self-initiated complaints. Investigate and prepare reports on all incidents reported to security (criminal complaints, fire alarms, injuries, accidents and illnesses). Respond to emergency situations, assist with building evacuation and provide aid and assistance where needed. Assist with medical needs and call for/provide transportation to medical resources. Other routine duties include but are not limited to on-campus parking and traffic enforcement and control, enforce college regulations and lock and unlock campus buildings. The officer will also be available to operate all department vehicles which include campus shuttles and provide security escorts to students, faculty and staff upon request.
Patrols, inspections and investigations require frequent indoor and outdoor routines in all types of weather conditions; foot, vehicle and stationary patrols required; possible exposure to hazardous materials, severe weather conditions and physical confrontations with unstable persons and individuals who are violating laws and regulations.
Relations to other positions: Works closely with other security officers, student workers, shuttle drivers, resident directors and advisors, maintenance personnel, college administrators, local law enforcement agencies and emergency services.
Education / Experience:
Associate Degree in Criminal Justice or equivalent experience is required; Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
Prior Law Enforcement experience preferred but not required.
Must be New York State Security Guard licensed upon hiring.
Competencies / Skills:
Must have a valid driver’s license with no significant convictions.
Supervision of Employees:
Assist with supervising student workers/shuttle drivers on shift.

Shift A – 7:00 am – 3:00 pm Shift B – 3:00 pm – 11:00 pm Shift C – 11:00 pm – 7:00 am
Required to be available for overtime and shift changes on short notice, or may be subject to recall. Operation is 24/7. May be assigned to any shift.
