Nemours is seeking a Transport Nurse Manager to join our team in Orlando, Florida.

Our 100-bed pediatric hospital also features the area’s only 24-hour Emergency Department designed just for kids as well as outpatient pediatric clinics including several specialties previously unavailable in the region. The Transport Nurse Manager is responsible and accountable for nursing, respiratory therapy and paramedic quality, service and financial performance for the assigned unit.This position is responsible for promoting a patient and family centered model of care.The position will also be responsible for instituting the shared governance model for Nemours Nursing and positively role modeling the Nemours Standards of Behavior and Values.
Promotes a patient and family-centered care model promoting the nurse patient partnership and the professional role of the nurse.
Manages clinical nursing, respiratory and paramedic staff promoting a healthy work and learning environment
a. Insures adequate training of new staff and ongoing training of existing staff on both ground, rotor and fixed wing transports, Dispatch Center and Patient Intake Coordinators, ensuring an environment of safety in both the hospital and pre-hospital setting
b. Maintains adequate coverage in the assigned clinical area and when necessary provides justification for changes in staffing levels
c. Assures staffing schedule is posted in a timely manner and allows for core staffing needs
d. Hires, counsels and provides disciplinary actions to unit staff as necessary
e. Provides feedback and coaching to staff on an ongoing basis utilizing the Nemours standards of behavior.
f. Performs a timely annual performance review for all unit staff
g. Assesses the appropriateness of available tools and resources to staff on an ongoing basis
Monitors monthly expenses and assures compliance with the budget
Prepares the annual budget justifying necessary capital and operational expenses
Ensures effective and efficient utilization of resources in daily management decisions
Supports and operationalizes the integrated model of care
Assures nursing/respiratory/ paramedic compliance with regulatory readiness agencies
Leads quality improvement projects designed to improve nursing clinical outcomes, including participation in national and regional benchmarking efforts and partnership provider and patient satisfaction
Participates in nursing research activities and supports evidence based neonatal and pediatric transport standards with a multidisciplinary approach
Models a caring philosophy focusing on safety education, for patients, families, and staff
Champions age-appropriate developmental considerations and holistic patient care
Directs nursing planning and policy making through constructive collaboration in key committees.
Works collaboratively with a number of vendors and partnership hospitals to provide safe and efficient transport of neonatal and pediatric patients
Must have the ability to work well with others, have good communication skills and regular attendance is required
Bachelor of Science in Nursing or higher nursing degree, required, MSN preferred
Active registered nurse licensure for State of Florida required
National certification: obtain within one year of eligibility and maintain certification in area of clinical specialty (preferred)
Minimum of five years of RN experience required, experience in pediatric specialty area, preferred
ACLS required within 1 year of hire
STABLE required within first 6 months of hire
Pediatric Fundamental of Critical Care Support within one year of hire
TNCC or higher course Advanced Trauma for Nurse (ATCN) preferred
Following must be obtained prior to employment start date
Valid American Heart Association BLS and PALS, NRP; must be valid for 90 days post start date
