The Transportation Services department is seeking a Field Supervisor. This is a full-time (1.00 FTE), 12-month, fixed term professional faculty position. Reappointments are at the discretion of the Director.
This position is in the Transportation Services department within the Division of Finance and Administration at Oregon State University. Transportation Services supports the University's mission by providing faculty, staff, students, and visitors with safe, sustainable, customer-focused, and fiscally sound transportation programs and services. The Transportation Services department includes staff who specialize in parking, motor pool, and transportation options.
Reporting to the Parking Manager, the Field Supervisor is responsible for the maintenance and the field representative (parking enforcement) staff in Transportation Services who play an important role in creating a welcoming and attractive campus environment. The person in this position regularly works in the field and is easily accessible to their staff, providing leadership and coaching to ensure high quality maintenance and enforcement activities.
This position requires excellent organizational and personnel management skills to independently assign, monitor, and report on field tasks and conditions in a timely manner.
Typically requires 3 years of experience performing trade-specific work. 1 year of experience providing supervision or lead work of facilities and operational employees. May require certification or licensure.
2 years of professional experience in at least one of the following:
maintenance operations; OR
parking or transportation-related operations; OR
special event field operations; OR
regulatory government agency field work supervision;
AND 2 years of staff supervisory experience.
Experience using a work assignment scheduling system.
Highly effective communication and customer service skills in a diverse community.
MS office suite experience, particularly with Excel or similar programs.
A demonstrable commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity.
This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a Criminal History Check and be determined to be position qualified as per OSU Standard 576-055-0000 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in Youth Programs may have additional Criminal History Checks every 24 months. Offers of employment are contingent upon meeting all minimum qualifications including the Criminal History Check Requirement.
This position requires driving a University vehicle or a personal vehicle on behalf of the University; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a Motor Vehicle History Check, possess and maintain a current, valid driver’s license in their state of residence, be determined to be position qualified and self-report convictions in accordance with OSU Standards and Policies. Offers of employment are contingent upon meeting all minimum qualifications including the Motor Vehicle Check Requirement.
The person in this position may work outside, alone, with limited supervision. They may also in an office environment. Must work with all types of customers and situations with confidence and decorum.
The hours for this position are variable but the primary schedule will be 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Mon.-Fri. Work schedule may also include shift adjustments, holidays, or weekends as needed. Work is primarily outdoors regardless of weather conditions.
The person in this position may also experience: long periods of sitting and/or standing, repeatedly climbing in and out of a vehicle, moving up to 50 pounds, bending, stooping, or crawling to complete tasks, work with various hand and power tools, including propane fired torches and tar melting pots, work on a ladder or other elevated surfaces.
The work environment for this position may allow exposure to high noise levels, dust, fumes, and chemicals associated with construction, maintenance, and cleaning.
The incumbent must wear appropriate safety equipment as required by OSU Policy, and State and Federal requirements.
